Lesson 13: How to Create an Online Web Form for Notion

Bulletproof Notion Work Management System
For Accountants and Bookkeepers
There’s a good chance that you’ve been wondering about this by now. Can I create a form in Notion to capture information from say, a new client?
The quick answer is no.
Notion cannot natively do this. It SHOULD, but it doesn’t.
There are however a number of third party apps that do this and one that I found that is heads and shoulders above all the others I’ve seen.
Its interface is amazing, and it is super easy to use.
The key is that you link it to a database in your Notion account, and then you can easily drag in the properties that you want filled out in the form.
Set up your account on their website:
Fillout | Create
Then click to create a new form.
Â
To get started quickly I’ll find a template to use.
This one looks cool! I’ll take it:
Â
In the next screen confirm by clicking Use this template.
Next you will find yourself in the form builder area.
The next thing you want to do is connect your Notion account to Fillout.
Â
Notion should be right at the top under “Popular Apps.”
In the next screen you will connect your Notion account.
Now this next part is a little technical, but if you follow these steps it should work very easily:
Head into Notion and access your databases.
Then expand your Clients Database.
Then expand the table to a full page view.
Â
Next you will connect your Clients Database to Fillout.
Â
Click on Fillout to confirm. You will get a warning. It’s ok, this is what you want. Confirm and go back to Fillout.
Refresh the connection, then click the drop down and confirm your Clients database.
Â
In the next screen you will configure the mapping. The initial setup of the template is not ideal. Not to worry. Just get comfortable with how to do the mapping. Then you can add any details to your clients database in Notion, refresh the connection in Fillout and then update the form. I will show you how to do this in more detail in the video.
Remember that the Clients database is not designed to capture the “Contact’s” information so I mapped those parts into the body of the Notion page. Then you can set up a new contact with this information, and link them back to this client.
Â
When you’re done, click Finish Setup (See top right above) and you’re done.
You can click back to edit the form any time.
In the video I will spend some more time decking this out on both ends (Notion and FIllout).
